What is a verb? The verb is a word that expresses some actions, feelings, or existence and also something about the subjects. Following examples are helping you for your better understanding them.
1) He runs. (action verb)

All the verbs which are expressing above lines are limited by the number and person of their subjects. Therefore, runs, fly, feel and was are called the main verbs or finite verbs.
Hence, verbs are divided in two parts :-
A) Main verbs also called as lexical verbs.
B) Helping verbs or Auxiliaries verbs.
All verbs we are using in English except the 24 helping verbs are the main verbs. The twenty four helping verbs are called auxiliary verbs.
What are auxiliary verbs? All helping verbs are known as auxiliary verbs. They are of two types. They helped a principal or main verbs to form a Tense, mood or voice. Examples:-
