There were six articles publishing about the verbs. This seventh article about verbs. This one also contains some of the vital rules of the verbs. We must know them for our better English. If one can read one by one of the published articles of mine about verbs can able to handle the English fantastic way. They are very essential for our betterment. Rule:-14. There are some nouns which are singular in form but are plural in number. That nouns are agreeing with the plural verbs with them. Following examples are helping you all for understanding the above rule best.
Examples:- (i) The people were shouting in the hall.
(ii) The cattle are grazing on the filed. etc.
Rule:-15. When a ‘plural noun’ denotes some particular quantity or amount considered as a whole, it takes a singular verb. Following examples are helping you to knowing the statement better.
Examples:- (i) Hundred miles is a long distance for me to covering. (Here the verb is agreeing with the distance not with the miles)
(ii) Two thousand rupees is a big amount for the man. etc. ( here verb will agreed with the amount not with the two thousand)
Rule:-16. The title of the books, names of the countries or subjects which looks like the plural, actually they are in singular numbers. Hence, they are following the singular verbs. Following examples are helping you for your better understanding the above statements.
Examples:- (i) Physics is a difficult subjects for Tanvi and Dhruvi.
(ii) The United State of America is the richest country of the world.
Rule:-17. When the subject is a relative pronoun, the verb agrees to number and the person with the noun, or pronoun to which the relative pronoun refers to. Following examples are helping for your better understanding of the above statement.
Examples:- (i) Jiya who is my student is thirst for gaining knowledge.
(ii) He who is typing there is my husband.
Rule:-18. Forms of verbs:- You all may aware about that, we are using three types of verbs. In English, they are also three types. That are:- A) Present or first or original form of the verbs.
B) Past or second form of the verbs.
C) Past participle or Third form of the verbs.
Rule:-19. The forms of the verbs and determines the tense of the sentence.The first form is the actual form of the verb. The other two types of verbs in most of the cases are derived by making certain changes of them from their original state. Examples:- know first form and knew is the second form then known is the third form of the verb know.
